Teresa Romano, soprano 26 years, won the 63rd edition of the Gian Battista Viotti International Music Competition for opera singers 2012, which had its epilogue Saturday, October 27 at the Civic Theatre of Vercelli.
Teresa Romano in addition to the first prize, entitled to the founder of the Competition Joseph Robbone, offered by the Fondazione Cassa di Vercelli amounting to € 15,000, delivered by Mr. Antonino Ruffino, won the scholarship from the Luciano Pavarotti Giovani Prize worth € 5,000, offered by Juventus FC, and the Audience Prize of € 1,000 delivered by Prof. Cesare Emanuel, Rector of the University of Eastern Piedmont.
The second prize, offered by the City of Vercelli, delivered by the Mayor of Vercelli Mr. Andrea Corsaro, worth € 5,000 was awarded to Korean baritone Jootaek Kim. Celebrated on stage also by the Consul General of South Korea Jae-Young Han, who attended the Final concerto, Jootaek Kim received the second scholarship from the Luciano Pavarotti Giovani Prize, amounting to € 5,000 offered by the Fondazione Renzo Giubergia and the plaque dedicated to the great baritone Cesare Bardelli, delivered by Mrs. Vera Bardelli Perinati.
Third prize of € 3,000, offered by the Piedmont Region and delivered the Councillor for Culture of the City of Vercelli, Piergiorgio Fossale, went to the soprano Jeanine De Bique, from Trinidad and Tobago.
