ANNA M. STEPHANY
The mezzo-soprano Anna M. Stephany completed her vocal studies at the MDW Vienna and has received coaching from Prof. Fenna Kügel-Seifried. On the opera stage, she has sung roles such as Stella in Le petit pauvre d‘Assise in Ulm and Cherubino in Soest in 2024. She has also performed as Nicklausse, Marcellina, and Hänsel. As a concert soloist, she has collaborated with various orchestras, including the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and the Hofkapelle Stuttgart.

The first round combines Dorabella’s aria, “Ah, scostati!…Smanie implacabili,” from Mozart’s Così fan tutte, in which the character is overcome by anguish, with “Sgombra è la sacra selva” of Adalgisa from Bellini’s Norma, a moment of pure lyricism in which the young priestess reveals her secret relationship to Norma.
The semifinal continues with two arias of great vocal and psychological complexity: the first is Angelina’s famous “Naqui all’affanno…Non più mesta” from Rossini’s La Cenerentola, a piece that celebrates the triumph of virtue. This is followed by a Donizetti aria, “Ah! quando all’ara scorgemi,” a piece of great dramatic intensity, expressing the character’s desire for a happy love. The program concludes with Strauss’s Lied, “Warum hast du mich wachgeküsst,” which represents a moment of intimate and delicate lyricism.
