Boris Petrushansky, born in Moscow, was admitted to the Central School at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of Inna Levina. In 1964, he became a pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus. The Maestro’s teachings were decisive in many respects for his subsequent development, which continued under the direction of Prof. L. Naumov, Neuhaus’s pupil and assistant. Among the orchestras he has played with are the USSR State Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Berlin Staatskapelle, the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the European Community. He has collaborated with many conductors including J. Ferencik, E. Bour, P. Berglund, Lu Jia, E-P. Salonen, V. Fedoseev, V. Gergiev, R. Abbado, V. Jurowsky. Chamber music partners include L. Kogan, J. Oistrakh, V. Afanasiev, D. Sitkovetsky, M. Maisky. Since 1991 Boris Petrushansky has been living in Italy, in Imola, where he teaches at the Accademia Pianistica ‘Incontri col Maestro’, and where he devotes himself to an intense concert activity.
