GUIDO DAZZINI

Guido Dazzini studied singing at the A. Boito Conservatory in Parma and perfected his skills with Sherman Lowe. After working as a chorister in major theaters, he won the AsLiCo competition in 2017, launching his solo career. He debuted in the OperaLombardia circuit in roles such as Marullo in Rigoletto and Don Alvaro in Il viaggio a Reims. He performed Giorgio Germont in La traviata and was again an AsLiCo winner in 2022 for his role as Don Giovanni. His debuts also include Dottor Malatesta in Don Pasquale and the Marquis in Salieri’s La locandiera. He has participated in major festivals like the Festival della Valle d’Itria and the Händel Festspiele in Halle, also performing abroad.

The program outlines a stylistic journey from French and Italian Romanticism to Verismo, with a tribute to the twentieth century. The first round combines Hérode’s famous “Vision fugitive” from Massenet’s Hérodiade, a lyrical and dramatic aria in which the king admires Salome’s beauty and succumbs to her seductive power, with Malatesta’s aria from Don Pasquale, a piece that requires great elegance and bel canto control. The semi-final offers a strong dramatic contrast: Pierrot’s serenade “Mein Sehnen, mein Wähnen” from Korngold’s Die tote Stadt, a moment of lyricism and melancholy in which the character turns to his friend Paul to console him from the memory of his deceased wife, and Rodrigo’s sacrifice from Don Carlo, an aria of profound nobility of spirit.
