FANGYONG LIANG

The Chinese baritone Fangyong Liang is currently pursuing his master’s degree in vocal performance at the Kunstuniversität Graz, where he studies with Professor Oliver Zwarg. He previously earned his bachelor’s degree in opera performance at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music under Professor Kaiwei Wang. He has appeared in a variety of operatic roles, including Eisenstein in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Lu Dacheng in the Chinese opera Sentinel Under the Neon Lights, and the Father in The Divine Chronicles. In 2025, he was selected by Operaprima Vienna and will make his Italian debut as the Mandarin (Mandarino) in Puccini’s Turandot at the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine. In the upcoming 2025/26 season, he is scheduled to perform the role of Count Almaviva (Il Conte) in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in Graz and will originate the role of LFOR in the world premiere of the contemporary opera Nachhall. Liang is also active as a recitalist, having performed Schubert’s Winterreise in a special concert and been featured in several Liederabend in Shanghai.
