MASSIMILIANO GENOT

Massimiliano Génot, born in Pinerolo in 1968, graduated at a very young age in Piano and Composition from the G. Verdi Conservatory in Turin. He furthered his studies with Aldo Ciccolini, Maria Tipo (earning the Premier Prix de Virtuosité in Geneva), Piero Rattalino, and Lazar Berman at the Imola Academy.

Prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions (Busoni, Cortot, Rina Sala Gallo), he maintains an intense worldwide concert schedule, performing for institutions such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro Regio of Turin, La Fenice, the Mushashino Foundation in Tokyo, and touring in Vietnam, China, and Latin America. As a soloist, he collaborates with orchestras including the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and the Toscanini Orchestra.

A tireless researcher, he dedicates himself to repertoire on historical instruments and the rediscovery of forgotten composers. He has recorded the complete Etudes Op. 299 by Czerny, as well as works by Leone Sinigaglia, Giuseppe Unia, and Federico Bufaletti. His Wagnerian transcriptions have been presented in Bayreuth, where he recorded on Liszt’s piano.

A professor of piano practice at the Turin Conservatory, he is active in musical research and collaborates with the RAI Orchestra. In 2019, he served as a juror for the Viotti International Competition in Vercelli. His compositions are published by Sconfinarte.
