NAMOK KIM

 

The soprano Namok Kim graduated from Sookmyung Women’s University and continued her studies in Italy at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan and the Accademia AMO of the Teatro Coccia in Novara. She participated in a masterclass with maestra Silvana Bazzoni Bartoli at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. Her accolades include 2nd prize at the Franco Margola International Music Competition in 2024 and reaching the finals of both the Enzo Sordello International Competition and the Ismaele Voltolini International Competition.

The first round unites an aria of Amelia from Un ballo in maschera, a moment of profound torment in which the character is forced to seek a magical herb, with Adriana Lecouvreur’s aria from the opera of the same name, where the actress introduces herself as the “humble handmaiden” of creative genius. The semi-final features Leonora’s aria from La forza del destino, an expression of desperation and a desire for peace, and Mimì’s aria from La Bohème, a moving farewell to her beloved Rodolfo.
