Hyewoon Chang

Hyewoon Chang is a native of Seoul, Korea, and started her musical studies at the age of five. She was awarded from competitions such as 1st prize at ICA International Piano Competition, Bradshaw&Buono International Piano Competition, Korea’s Segye-Ilbo Music Competition, 2nd prize at Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition, American Protégé Piano Competition, and a finalist at the New York International Piano Competition. She has performed at the Weill Concert Hall in Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Pater Martin Saal in Germany, the birthplace of Franz Joseph Haydn in Rohrau, Austria, the Banff Centre, and throughout America. She has also performed as a soloist with the Brentwood Westwood Symphony Orchestra and Culver Symphony Orchestra. Aside from her solo career, she performed in Colburn Chamber Music Society concert with Denis Bouriakov, Principal flutist from LA Philharmonic.

She attended The Glenn Gould School of Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She then earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Colburn School and a Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music. Currently, she is currently pursuing Doctor of Musical Arts at USC Thornton School under Jeffrey Kahane. Her previous teachers are John Perry, Yukyung Han, and Yangsook Lee.
