Light lyric tenor Kangyoon Shine Lee was born in Seoul, Republic of Korea. He graduated from Korea National University of Arts and studied with Prof. Song. Starting in 2022, he will study for his master’s degree at Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Kammersänger Prof. Roman Trekel. During his graduate studies, he performed in Mozart’s opera “Don Giovanni” as “Don Ottavio,” Donizetti’s opera “Don Pasquale” as “Ernesto,” and Donizetti’s opera “L’elisir d’amore” as “Nemorino.” Shine has also won many competitions in Korea. For example, the “La bella Opera Competition” and the “Seil Korean Art Songs Competition.” In 2021, after starting his master’s degree, he won the Belvedere Competition and got a engagement at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He was chosen by Maestro Daniel Barenboim for a concert and was also honored by “Das Orchester” magazine in the Prenzlauer production when he sang “Dorvil” from the opera “The Silken Staircase.” He performed as “Tamino” in the Mozart gala concert at the Immling Festival. He was also invited by Carinthia as an opera gala of young stars in Villach. In the 21/22 season he sang Verdi’s “La traviata” and Shostakovich’s “The Nose” at the Komische Oper Berlin under the baton of Maestro Ain?rs Rubi?is. Shine expressed his pure voice when he appeared as tenor soloist in Rossini’s “Petite messe solennelle” at the Berlin Cathedral.
