Bio
Xu Chen graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory with a bachelor’s and master’s degree and graduated as a soloist from the Royal Danish Conservatory. He was then cast by the German company Wamberlin. In December 2016, he co-starred in ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. In June 2019, he played the role of Tamino in ‘Die Zauberflöte’ at the Delphi Theatre in Berlin. He made his debut in Rigoletto at the Teatro Comunale di Bolzano in November 2019. He has won numerous vocal competition prizes, including the Golden Bell Award; finalist at the 51st International Singing Competition in Toulouse; first prize at the Vienna International Singing Competition 2017, first prize at the Rome International Music Competition 2021. As a soloist, he has performed at Jiangsu Grand Theater, Shanghai Concert Hall, Oriental Art Center, Tokyo Suntory Concert Hall, Xinghai Concert Hall, Kunshan Baoli Theatr, Tivoli Concert Hall, Betty Nansen Theatre, Copenhagen Opera Festival, Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, at the Vienna Golden Hall, and has collaborated with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin City Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai Opera House Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra.
