REBECCA BLANZ

 

The German soprano Rebecca Blanz studied voice at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Following her studies, she was invited by La Scala for a China tour as First Lady in The Magic Flute. She was a member of the Nationaltheater Mannheim Opera Studio and has performed roles by Mozart, Wagner, and Puccini. Her repertoire spans opera, Lied, and contemporary music. She won 1st Prize at the Cloe Elmo International Competition in 2025 and has received other awards in Lied and operatic competitions.

This program highlights an eclectic and mature repertoire, ranging from Verismo to German Romanticism, including both opera arias and concert compositions. The first round unites Santuzza’s aria from Cavalleria rusticana, a dramatic monologue of confession and pain, with Ariadne’s aria from Strauss’s opera of the same name, which expresses a profound desire for death as a form of liberation. The semi-final offers a broad perspective on the performer’s talent, alternating Mahler’s Lied with the melody and despair of Britten’s Requiem, passing through Sieglinde’s aria from Die Walküre, an expression of joy and love, and the virtuosic Strauss Lied “Cäcilie.”
