SOOYEON SONG

The soprano Song Sooyeon graduated with top honors in Vocal Performance from Chu-Gye University of the Arts in Korea in 2016, and earned a master’s degree in Opera from the Korea National University of Arts in 2019. From 2020 to 2024, she studied at the Leopold Mozart College of Music in Augsburg. Since 2022, she has been a chorus member at the Staatstheater Augsburg, where she has performed solo roles such as Despina (Così fan tutte), Adele (Die Fledermaus), and a Fairy in The Fairy Queen. She also has upcoming roles in Mahagonny and Mozart’s Requiem. Among her awards, she won second prize and the Audience Award at the Giulio Perotti International Competition in 2019.

The program ranges from German and Italian Romanticism to Mozart’s classicism, demonstrating vocal agility and emotional depth. The first round opens with the lively aria “Nun eilt herbei” of Frau Fluth from Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, in which the protagonist summons the forest fairies to carry out her plan against Falstaff. This is followed by Giulietta’s lament in “Oh quante volte” from Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, an intimate prayer of love and hope. The semifinal presents two arias of great sensitivity: Pamina’s aria, “Ach, ich fühl’s”, a moment of profound despair from Die Zauberflöte, and the famous aria of Lucia from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, where the protagonist is lost in a tormented memory of love.
