SOYEON SHIN

The soprano Soyeon Shin began her musical studies at Seoul National University and earned two Master’s degrees from the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK), in Opera and in Lied, Oratorio, and Concert performance. She has performed roles such as Georgia in Georgia Bottoms and made her debut as Adina in L’elisir d’amore for the National Opera Company in Korea. Her accolades include 2nd Prize at the Musicchunchu Competition, the Grand Prize at the Music Education News Competition, and she was a finalist at the ASLICO Competition in 2023.

The first round unites Nedda’s aria from Pagliacci, a moment of escapism and reflection where the protagonist watches the birds fly away, dreaming of freedom, with Marie’s aria from La Fille du régiment, a piece of great vocal agility. The semi-final features the jewel aria of Marguerite from Faust, a peak of the lyrical repertoire, and Adele’s aria from Die Fledermaus, an expression of vivacity and flair that requires remarkable coloratura mastery.
