TAKESHI SAWACHI

 

The bass-baritone Takeshi Sawachi, born in Tokyo in 1993, graduated from the Tokyo College of Music in 2016. In 2024, he completed his master’s degree with top honors at the Conservatorio “Arrigo Boito” in Parma, where he studied with Adriana Cicogna and Mario Luperi. He has also studied with Nicola Mottaran, Massimo Cavalletti, Antonella D’Amico, and Luca Gorla. In 2024, he attended an advanced training course at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara with Leone Magiera. Since 2025, he has been participating in the advanced training program for opera singers specializing in the Mozart repertoire at the Opera School of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

The program is an interesting exploration of the bass and bass-baritone repertoire, ranging from buffo to lyrical roles. The first round opens with Figaro’s famous aria from Le nozze di Figaro, a bitter yet amused reflection on the supposed infidelity of women. This is followed by Don Magnifico’s aria from La Cenerentola, in which the baron comically boasts about his daughters and proclaims himself king. The semifinal continues with two arias of great character: the first is Alidoro’s aria from La Cenerentola, where the philosopher, in a moment of great introspection, turns to the heavens to express his desire to guide fate and find a pure heart. The program concludes with Dulcamara’s sparkling aria from Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, where the charlatan slyly and charmingly tries to sell his “elixir of love” to the public.
