OPENING WEEK

The “opening week” of the 75th Gian Battista Viotti Music Competition anticipates and prepares for the upcoming international event dedicated to opera singing that will kick off on October 11. In the days leading up to the start of the Competition, in addition to various initiatives such as conferences, exhibitions and educational projects, to represent the history and multidisciplinary nature of the Competition we will host some extraordinary concerts and musical performances.

SOUNDS AND CULTURES OF THE AMERICAN ROARING TWENTIES
A conversation in music with
Guido Michelone and Riccardo Mussato

 

The conversation in music, led by Guido Michelone (essayist, musicologist) and Riccardo Mussato (pianist and musicologist), offers an interdisciplinary analysis of the figure of George Gershwin. The conversation explores the historical-socio-cultural context in which the composer was a key figure, with insights into the union between classical, jazz, and pop music, and the connections with cinema and new technologies. The second part will be dedicated to the complete performance by Riccardo Mussato of George Gershwin’s Three Preludes for Piano.
