POVILAS NORKUNAS

Povilas Norkunas (2005) is a young-generation concert pianist who frequently performs on major Lithuanian stages such as the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, the Palace of the Grand Dukes, and Vilnius Town Hall, alongside international venues including the Gödöllő Palace in Hungary and Temple du Bas in Switzerland. He began his musical studies at the Balys Dvarionas school and the National M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts, later studying with Jurgis Karnavicius at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Since 2025, he has been studying at the Hanover University of Music, Theatre and Media with Ewa Kupiec. Active in international competitions, in March 2026 he won first prize at the 10th Stasys Vainiunas International Piano Competition, receiving concert awards and scholarships. His notable achievements include first place at the “Lisztofonija” competition (2023), semifinalist status at the M. K. Ciurlionis Competition (2023), and finalist placement at Piano Neuchâtel – Val de Travers (2025). A former alumnus of the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation, he performed a solo recital broadcast live on Lithuanian National Radio.
