YUKAI ZHU

Yukai Zhu was born in Fuzhou, Fujian, in 2004 and has studied the piano since childhood. In 2020, he entered the Middle School Affiliated to the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music to study with Associate Professor Xiang Huang, and in 2023 he began pursuing his bachelor’s degree at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music under Associate Professor Hong Huang, while also studying with Professor Xin Wang and starting chamber music studies with Ms. Yinjia Yu in 2025. He has performed in venues such as the Shanghai He Luting Concert Hall, Tianjin Juilliard Concert Hall, Ningxia Grand Theatre, Xiamen Hongtai Hall, Tbilisi Conservatoire Recital Hall, and the Auditorium of Las Rozas Joaquín Rodrigo, alongside appearances with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Orchestra under conductors Xiao-ou Zhao and Ke Zhou. His awards and honors include the winner title in the 8th KAWAI Asia Piano Competition, the Challengers Category at the 4th Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux International Piano Competition, the 2015 Korea-China Teenager International Music Competition (Chinese Division), third place at the 2021 Scriabin International Arts Festival Piano Competition, the 5th YAMAHA Scholarship Piano Competition, the IPM Tbilisi & SEEO International Piano Solo Competition, fourth place at the 11th Steinway & Sons National Youth Piano Competition, and fifth place at the 2019 Pearl River • Kayserburg International Youth Piano Competition, alongside participation in the International Piano Masters in Tbilisi and selection for the DEBUT ‘Future Musician Discovery Program’.
