Born in Sarno, having completed her classical high school diploma, Gilda Fiume graduated in singing in 2009 from the Salerno Conservatory of Music with top honors and then specialized in the following two years at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia under the guidance of Renata Scotto. Since 2014 she has been a student of Mariella Devia.

After ranking in numerous international competitions, she made her debut as Leonora in Verdi’s Il Trovatore at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo. This was followed by Lucia in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at the San Carlo in Naples, the Regio in Parma and the Lirico in Cagliari; Amina in Bellini’s La Sonnambula at the Bellini in Catania and in Verona; and the title role in Donizetti’s Maria de Rudenz at the Wexford Festival; Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Sassari and La Coruña; Eleonora in Donizetti’s Torquato Tasso for the Donizetti Festival; the leading lady in Bellini’s Norma conducted by Daniel Oren; and Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata in Salerno.

Over the years she will sing in important theaters on the international opera scene, including Il Teatro Regio in Turin, Il Grand Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, La Fenice in Venice, Seoul Arts Center, Boston Symphony Hall, and Carnegie Hall in New York.

Debuted roles include Mrs. Ford in Salieri’s Falstaff, La Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Ophelia in Faccio’s Hamlet, and Amalia in Alfredo il Grande at the Donizetti Festival.

Her recent engagements include her debut at the Arena di Verona, first as Micaela in Carmen, then as Violetta in Franco Zeffirelli’s La Traviata and finally in Carmina Burana;

her debut at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin as Lucia di Lammermoor, La Traviata at the Cincinnati Opera, and Norma at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.

Upcoming engagements include La Traviata at the Reggia di Caserta conducted by Daniel Oren, the debut of Elvira in i Puritani at the Teatro Regio in Turin, Lucieta in Il campiello at the Carlo Felice in Genoa.
