HYUN SEO PARK

Born in South Korea in 1992, tenor Hyun-Seo Park earned his Bachelor of Music at Kyunghee University before continuing his studies in Italy at the Conservatorio “Arrigo Boito” in Parma and in France at the CRR de Rueil-Malmaison. From 2021 to 2023, he studied at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala with Luciana d’Intino and Pietro Spagnoli. He has won numerous international competitions, including First Prize at the Di Pasquale, Campogalliani, Borso, and Zinetti Competitions. His operatic repertoire includes roles such as Nemorino, Don Ramiro, Duca di Mantova, Rodolfo, Don José, and Pinkerton. In 2025, he is set to make his debut as Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra. He has performed as a soloist in Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Mozart’s Requiem, and has taken part in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Leo Nucci, Gregory Kunde, and Mariella Devia.

The first round opens with Corrado’s aria from Verdi’s Il corsaro, in which the protagonist expresses his anguish over the fate that has separated him from the woman he loves. This is followed by Don José’s famous “La fleur que tu m’avais jetée” from Bizet’s Carmen, where the protagonist expresses his anguish for the consuming memory of a past passion. The semifinal continues with two arias of great emotional depth: the first is Des Grieux’s “Ah! Fuyez, douce image” from Massenet’s Manon, in which the tenor tries to escape the obsession of his love. The program concludes with Roberto’s aria from Puccini’s Le Villi, in which the protagonist returns to his village and, regretting his actions, confronts his sad destiny.
