Diana Nalyvaiko - Concorso Viotti

DIANA NALYVAIKO

The young Ukrainian soprano Diana Nalyvaiko graduated from Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music. On the opera stage, she has performed roles such as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and Ino in Semele. As a concert soloist, she has sung in Mozart’s and Fauré’s Requiems. She was the Winner of the Vanderbilt University Concerto Competition and received an Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. She made her debut as Rinaldo in Il filosofo di campagna in Italy and has performed as Venus in Orphée aux enfers and Tisbe in La Cenerentola for Opera In The Ozarks.

This program explores a repertoire that spans German Classicism, French Romanticism, and Baroque opera. The first round unites an aria of Pamina from Die Zauberflöte, a moment of profound melancholy, with Juliette’s aria from Roméo et Juliette, a piece of great vivacity and flair. The semi-final features Morgana’s aria from Alcina, in which the protagonist, an enchantress in love with Oronte, expresses her desire to be loved in return, with Norina’s aria from Don Pasquale, a piece of great virtuosity that describes her seductive qualities.
