BORIS PETRUSHANSKY

Boris Petrushansky was born to musician parents and entered the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory at age eight. In 1964, he became the final pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus, whose mentorship deeply shaped his artistic development, which was later completed under Prof. Lev Naumov. Following successes at international competitions in Leeds, Munich, and Moscow, he won the “Casagrande” Competition in Terni in 1975, launching an extensive international career. He has performed with renowned orchestras—such as the USSR State Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Berlin Staatskapelle, and Santa Cecilia Academy—working with distinguished conductors including Gergiev, Fedoseev, and Berglund. His chamber music partners include artists like Maisky, Oistrakh, and the Borodin Quartet. Since 1991, he has lived in Italy, teaching at the “Incontri col Maestro” Piano Academy in Imola. Alongside his global concert schedule, he gives masterclasses at prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Royal Academy and the Verbier Festival. He has recorded for labels such as Melodia, Fonè, and Stradivarius, and frequently serves on the jury of major international piano competitions, including the Tchaikovsky, Chopin, and Viotti competitions.
