DALIA BESPROZYANY

The Israeli soprano Dalia Besprozvany, based in Leipzig, began her musical journey playing the cello at the age of 7 before turning to classical singing. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and was part of the Israeli Opera Studio program for the 2019/20 season. She recently completed her German education with Master and “Meister” degrees at the Mendelssohn-Akademie in Leipzig. She has performed various roles, including Helena in Mozart’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Hexe in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, and Elettra in Mozart’s Idomeneo. Her recent engagements include First Niece in Peter Grimes at the Oper Leipzig, her debut as Tatiana in Eugen Onegin in Hamburg, and her debut as The GIRL in Peter Eötvös’s Sleepless at the Theater Chemnitz.

The first round opens with the complex aria of Elettra from Mozart’s Idomeneo, an explosion of rage and revenge. This is followed by Tosca’s intense plea, “Vissi d’arte,” from Puccini’s Tosca, where the heroine reflects on her destiny in a moment of great anguish. The semifinal continues with arias of profound introspection: the first is the famous “September” from Strauss’s Four Last Songs, a moment of quiet and serene acceptance. This contrasts with Leonora’s aria, “Pace, pace, mio Dio,” from Verdi’s La forza del destino, which is a desperate prayer for peace and death. The journey concludes with Rusalka’s “Song to the Moon” from Dvořák’s Rusalka, a touching request for help to transform and win love.
