From Bellevue, Washington, Min Joo Yi is currently a D.M.A. piano performance candidate under Professor Yong-Hi Moon at Peabody Conservatory, where she also completed her M.M and G.P.D. and holds a graduate assistantship in accompanying. She received an A.B. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology as well as a music performance certificate from Princeton University. She has been recognized in the 2022 Verona International Piano Competition (solo finalist), 2020 USA National Chopin Piano Competition (semifinalist), 2020 American International Piano Competition (semifinalist), 2019 Yale Gordon Piano Competition (third prize), 2019 Concours International Piano Campus (bronze medal), 2017 Young Artists Concert Series of Sarasota National Competition (fourth prize), 2013 New York Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition (second prize), and the 2011 Schimmel USASU International Piano Competition (bronze medal). Min Joo has also been awarded the 2022 Sarah Stuhlman Zierler Prize, 2022 Albert P. Schaefer Endowed Scholarship for Piano, 2020 & 2021 Caswell and Constance Caplan Career Development Grants, 2018-19 Leo B. Swinderman Prize, 2017 & 2018 Clara Ascherfeld Award, 2017 & 2018 Loraine Bernstein Memorial Fund, and 2014-2016 Princeton University Scheide Scholarship. Her biology research has been published in the journals Frontiers in Microbiology and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), and has been reviewed in PNAS “Front Matter.”
