SHION OTA
Shion Ota, a Japanese pianist born in Osaka in 2000, won the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Competition in 2026 and reached the semifinals of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2025. Her competition accolades include first prizes at the André Dumortier International Piano Competition and the International Piano Competition of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, third prize and the best chamber music performance award at the Málaga International Piano Competition, and third prize at the Sendai International Music Competition. As a soloist, she has performed at venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Rudolfinum in Prague, and the Haus des Rundfunks in Berlin, collaborating with orchestras including the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, and leading Japanese orchestras. She completed her Master’s degree in solo piano performance with highest distinction at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in piano chamber music under Prof. Björn Lehmann and Norie Takahashi.
